A Hands-On Rongoā Māori Experience for Self-Care & Whānau Care

Have you ever looked at the plants around you and wondered, “How can I work with these plants in a meaningful way?”

Join us for a special half-day experience where you’ll move beyond simply learning about the concept of Rongoā — you’ll experience it , develop your relationship with it and take the knowledge home.

Together, we’ll explore selected Rongoā plants and traditional healing practices, learning through doing, sensing and receiving.

🌱 What We’ll Do

🫖 Make Wai Rākau & Steep Preparations
Learn how plant preparations are traditionally made and explore their place in seasonal wellbeing.

🌿 Prepare Kawakawa Poultice
Get hands-on with preparing and applying a poultice while learning about this traditional practice..

🤲 Experience Rongoā including Puoro Healing
Rather than only watching, you’ll have the opportunity to receive selected practices and experience them for yourself.

✨ What You’ll Take Away

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have:

🌿 A deeper understanding of Rongoā Māori and our relationship with whenua and plants
👐 Hands-on experience preparing several traditional plant preparations
🍃 Practical ideas for incorporating Rongoā-inspired self-care into everyday life
and  share with your whānau
🌱 Greater confidence and curiosity in working respectfully with plants
🌬️ Simple Tai Chi and Qigong practices to continue at home

This is not about becoming a Rongoā practitioner in one morning. It’s about reconnecting with traditional knowledge and building practical skills that you can bring into your own home and whānau care.
